Reader Mode
Reader Mode simplifies article-style pages so they are easier to read. It can remove much of the surrounding clutter and focus on the main text.
This is most useful for:
-
long articles
-
blog posts
-
news stories
-
pages where ads or navigation make reading harder
Turn Reader Mode On for a Page
When Reader Mode is available for the current page, WebLibre can show it from places such as:
-
the browser menu
-
the contextual toolbar, if you use that toolbar
Tap Reader Mode to switch the current page into the reader view. Tap it again to return to the normal page view.
Enable Reader Mode in Settings
Reader Mode behavior is controlled from Settings > Web Content.
The related settings are:
-
Enable Reader Mode — makes Reader Mode available when WebLibre thinks a page is suitable
-
Enforce Reader Mode — makes the feature available on more pages, even if the results may be less reliable
If Enable Reader Mode is off, the reader tools do not appear for normal use.
What Enforce Reader Mode Means
Enforce Reader Mode does not mean every page automatically opens in reader view.
It means WebLibre is willing to offer Reader Mode more aggressively on pages that might still work in reader view.
This can help on pages that are almost article-like, but it can also increase the chance of rough or incomplete results.
What to Expect
On supported pages, Reader Mode usually gives you:
-
a cleaner reading layout
-
fewer visual distractions
-
a better source for exporting simplified text
It is a reading-focused view, not an exact copy of the original website design.
When Reader Mode Is Not a Good Fit
Reader Mode is usually not ideal for:
-
dashboards or app-like sites
-
forms
-
shopping pages
-
pages that depend heavily on interactive widgets
If a page looks incomplete in Reader Mode, switch back to the normal page.
Reader Mode and Other Features
Reader Mode also affects a few nearby features:
-
Page Export & Sharing may offer cleaner extracted content when article-style content is available
-
Page Translation is unavailable while Reader Mode is active
If you do not see Translate Page, turn Reader Mode off first and try again.
Tips
-
Use Reader Mode when the original page feels visually noisy
-
Keep Enable Reader Mode on if you read articles often
-
Turn on Enforce Reader Mode only if you often want Reader Mode on pages that WebLibre normally would not treat as readable
-
If a page looks wrong in reader view, switch back to the original page instead of troubleshooting the site itself
