App Lock

WebLibre can lock a profile so someone using your phone cannot open that profile without authenticating first. This is useful if you share a device or want extra protection for a sensitive profile.

In the current app, this protection is configured per profile, not as one global browser-wide setting.

Turn It On

  1. Open the profile manager in WebLibre.

  2. Open the profile you want to protect.

  3. In the Authentication section, turn on Require Authentication.

  4. Choose an Auto-lock Behavior.

  5. If you choose Lock After Timeout, also choose a Timeout Duration.

WebLibre then uses your phone’s built-in authentication when that profile is locked.

Available Options

Require Authentication

Turning on Require Authentication adds a lock to that profile. When the profile is locked, WebLibre shows a lock screen instead of your browsing data.

Auto-lock Behavior

WebLibre offers two lock modes:

  • Lock on Background — locks as soon as WebLibre goes into the background, such as when you switch apps or return to the home screen.

  • Lock After Timeout — keeps the profile unlocked for a limited time, then locks it after the selected timeout expires.

If you switch in and out of WebLibre often, Lock After Timeout is usually more convenient. If you want the strongest protection, use Lock on Background.

Timeout Duration

If you use Lock After Timeout, the available timeout choices are:

  • 1 minute

  • 5 minutes

  • 15 minutes

  • 1 hour

The default timeout is 5 minutes.

What To Expect

When a protected profile is locked, WebLibre shows Profile is locked with an Unlock button. The app may also try to start authentication automatically when that screen appears.

Authentication uses the method your device offers for secure unlock, such as fingerprint, face unlock, or another system-approved screen lock method. WebLibre does not create a separate password for this feature.

Important Notes

  • This feature protects the selected profile, not every profile at once

  • Each profile has its own authentication setting

  • Protected containers are a separate feature and can be locked independently

  • If you switch to a different profile, WebLibre restarts into that profile; if that profile is protected, you will need to unlock it before use

  • You need device authentication set up on your phone for this feature to be useful
