Intent Gatekeeper
When another app on your device tries to open a link in the browser, WebLibre can ask whether to allow or block it. This privacy feature is called the Intent Gatekeeper.
It helps when:
-
a notification or background app keeps redirecting you into the browser
-
an app opens unexpected links that you did not ask for
-
you want to limit which apps can hand traffic to your browser
How It Works
When the Intent Gatekeeper is on, WebLibre checks the source app every time another Android app tries to open a URL.
For each source app, WebLibre can:
-
prompt you the first time and remember the decision
-
allow the app to open links
-
block the app from opening links
You stay in control of the policy per app, not per link.
Open the Settings
-
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security
-
Open the Intent Gatekeeper screen
From there you can:
-
enable or disable the gatekeeper
-
review the list of source apps and their saved decisions
-
change a saved decision back to Ask or flip it between Allow and Block
Notifications and Quick Replies
When the gatekeeper blocks a link, WebLibre can post a notification with action buttons so you can respond without opening the browser.
The available actions are:
-
Always allow — whitelist the source app permanently
-
Allow once — open this single link without saving the decision
Always allow appears first in the notification so you do not accidentally tap Allow once when you meant to whitelist the app for good.
You can also configure how the gatekeeper communicates with you in Gatekeeper Notification Options on the same settings screen.
Changing or Resetting Decisions
To change what an app is allowed to do:
-
Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Intent Gatekeeper
-
Find the source app in the list
-
Pick a new decision
If you want every app to ask again the next time it tries to open a link, reset its decision to Ask.
Things to Expect
-
The gatekeeper only intercepts links that other apps try to open in WebLibre. It does not affect links you tap inside WebLibre.
-
If you set WebLibre as your default browser, the gatekeeper is what ultimately decides whether a request from another app reaches a tab.
-
Source apps that you have allowed once still have to follow your other settings, such as External Link Handling.
