Sync

WebLibre supports sync through a Firefox account, so you can keep your data aligned across WebLibre and your other signed-in devices.

This is useful if you want your browsing activity to follow you between your phone and desktop.

What Can You Sync?

In WebLibre, the sync settings currently let you sync:

  • Sync Open Tabs — Share your open tabs between devices

  • Sync Bookmarks — Keep bookmarks aligned across devices

  • Sync History — Keep browsing history available across devices

If you do not want to sync one of these, you can turn it off in the sync settings.

Setting Up Sync

Sign In With Your Account

  1. Go to Settings > Firefox Sync

  2. Tap the account row to sign in

  3. Complete the sign-in flow

  4. Review the sync switches for Sync History, Sync Bookmarks, and Sync Open Tabs

  5. Tap Sync Now if you want to start a sync immediately

If you are already signed in on your other devices with the same account, WebLibre can sync with them after sign-in completes.

QR Code Pairing

If you would rather pair from a desktop browser, WebLibre also supports QR code pairing.

  1. On your computer, open Firefox and go to firefox.com/pair

  2. In WebLibre, go to Settings > Firefox Sync

  3. Tap Scan QR Code to pair

  4. Scan the QR code shown on your computer

If the code does not work, generate a new one and try again. Pairing codes can expire.

Managing Sync

After you sign in, the sync screen gives you the main controls for your account:

  • Sync Now — starts a sync right away

  • Device Name — changes how this phone or tablet appears on your other synced devices

  • Sign Out — disconnects WebLibre from your account on this device

The screen also shows whether sync is in progress and when the last sync finished.

Synced Tabs

If Sync Open Tabs is enabled, WebLibre can show tabs from your other synced devices.

You can use this to continue reading something you opened on your computer, or to check what is open on another phone or tablet connected to the same account.

WebLibre can also receive tabs sent from another device. When that happens, the tab can open in WebLibre the next time the app resumes or after you run Sync Now.

If you want to send the current page from WebLibre to another synced device, see Page Export and Sharing.

Device Management

You can rename this device from Settings > Firefox Sync > Device Name.

This helps you recognize it when you send tabs or check synced devices elsewhere.

Managing the full list of linked devices may still be easier from your account page on another device.

Custom Sync Server

Most people should leave these settings alone.

For advanced users who run their own sync infrastructure, WebLibre includes these server override fields in Settings > Firefox Sync:

  • FxA Server Override — replaces the default account server

  • Sync Token Server Override — replaces the token server used for sync

WebLibre requires valid HTTPS addresses for these fields.

After changing either override, restart the app before trying to sign in or sync.

Privacy Note

Sync is designed to encrypt synced data end-to-end before it is stored on the server.

In practice, this means your open tabs, bookmarks, and history are meant to stay readable only to devices signed in to your account, not to the sync server itself.
